how to copy bootable cd to harddisk

is there a way to copy a bootable cd to harddisk?
i have a bootable thin client cd from pxes, but i don't want to use cd everytime
i boot up, so i want to move all data in the cd to the harddisk,
so, is there a way?

btw, in the cd, there are some folders: bin, boot, lib, opt
if i install a linux distro, e.g. beatrix (because it's small), and then i erase everything
and then move those folders from cd to harddisk, will the harddisk be bootable?

thanks in advance,

I do not know of a way to copy the files from a livecd to the harddisk while booted in the livecd (I'm sure there is one, I just don't know it) However, if you had booted off the hard drive, and had a separate (bootable) partition set up and mounted (lets say hdb2) you could try something like this:

cp -R /dev/cdrom/* /mnt/hdb2/

assuming that /dev/cdrom is the path to the cdrom and /mnt/hdb2/ is the mount point for the partition.

then to make that bootable, you would either have to install a bootloader (grub), or if you already have grub installed, add an entry into grubs menu.1st file. (just copy whatever is already there, but change the path's to look like the new partition. the filenames that it would point to should be under the boot directory in the cd you just copied.)

Now, I don't really know that much about how livecds work. Or wether this would work, I'm just guessing. My best advice to you really would be to use a livecd that supports doing hd installs, like damn small linux...which is all of 50 megs anyhow.
