Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

I use exclusively amd powered laptop, though it is Asus and not the Alldocube GT.

Your reported issue is sound and not processor.

It is well known that for most devices the drivers are not provided by the mfgr and thus it takes some time from release of new hardware to having suitable drivers available. Most users purchase devices that have been out for 6 months to a year or even more so they can be sure the drivers are available in linux. Since you chose a newer device that does not yet have the drivers available I would suggest a work-around such as an inexpensive USB sound device that is supported and patiently wait for the driver for your internal sound card to become available.

Alternatively you may choose to return that device and purchase one that actually does have support at this time.

Your choice.

Almost no incentive for a company to release their expensive information.

In reality my model of laptop is at least one year old. I got it for a very good price because they are launching the new generation. My fault was not having checked for known issues; after so many successful installations in the past years, I incorrectly assumed that lack of hardware support was not a problem anymore. By the way, for now I can survive with the usb sound card I already bought, hoping for a better future.
There are so many people complaining that something must be done: https://github.com/thesofproject/linux/issues

Companies make a hardware product. That company usually finds that to sell the product they need to create a driver and in almost all cases that means either Windows or Apple. There is no financial gain to release the information.

At one time there was a linux project that attempted to allow linux to use any windows driver. It kind of fell into the wayside and only worked for wifi drivers.

The people that do create software for linux tend to do it on their free time or as part of a corporate offering. For example a special board for machine control would require software so someone can install it to a machine right?

Unless someone takes over the project that can allow windows drivers to work you will have to rely on the help of others or some corporate provided driver. Intel is one that has supported Linux for decades. Companies like HP that sell Suse or Red Hat on their systems also tend to provide support.
