How to configure my internal modem

hi,
Sorry to post again, I have sent this question in the laptop Forum, I haven't receive any answer perhaps here ??

I have an internal modem (I don't know if it is a winmod) in my laptop HP Omniboog PIII, my RH 9.0 recognize the material,
it is listed in the /etc/sysconfig/hwconfig, the type is : ESS ES56CVM; data fax voice modem.
When I run the configuration program Kppp it says that the line busy ??? . Sure that nothing is on the line !!!!!
I tried to install a module named phonedev which is in kernel/drivers/telephony. but I have the same problem
Please where can I find the appropriate driver and how to configure it

thank a lot
bela

hi,
check http://linmodems.technion.ac.il/beginners.html
and http://linmodems.technion.ac.il/packages, you may find a driver for your modem, unzip the file and rear the readme file to see how to install. then the kppp will work.
