Unhappy how to configure my geforce6200 card

my linux is fedora 5 x86_64, the kernel is 2.6.15-1.2054_FC5, and i tried download a kernel source code 2.6.15.1 and recompile the new kernel, it seems works fine, but i still can't start the x windows system successfully, even i go to the nvidia's website download 'NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-1.0-8178-pkg2.run' driver, the driver shows a message, it modified my /etc/X11/xorg.conf, but it still failed...

the error message 'failed to load module 'glx' and 'nvidia' ...

how to resolve this problem ?

i don't want 'vmware' anymore, it's too slow...

well from what i can tell it should work with the newest drivers according to this review from the HCL. Also Nvidia recently released new drivers. Try using a newer driver it might help. Can you reintstall xorg possibly or at least try for an update?

The obvious first step: is the glx and nvidia driver actually present?
Next - do these drivers support your kernel version?
Next - what does the /etc/X11/xorg.conf say now?

Can you get X with the nv driver?

Another test is to "modprobe -v" the drivers in question and see what it says.

the FC5 default kernel is 2.6.15-1-2054_FC5, my compiled kernel is 2.6.15.1
i just tried 'modprobe -v glx', and 'modprobe -v nvidia' using my compiled kernel, nvidia is ok (no message)but glx shows 'Module not found'

PS:my graphics card is geforce6200 pci express x16, motherboard is nforce4 ultra, processor: AMDathlon64 3000+

i download the new linux driver release yesterday
'NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-1.0-8756-pkg2.run'

and excutes '#sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-1.0-8756-pkg2.run' again

then ' modprobe -v nvidia' it shows a different message

insmod /lib/modules/2.6.15.1/kernel/drivers/video/nvidia.ko
NVRM: loading NVIDIA Linux x86_64 Kernel Module 1.0-8756 Wed Mar 29 15:12:41 PST 2006

but glx.ko is still not found
