The Linux kernel appears to have problem with this new SCSI card. When I use kernel 2.4.22-pre8, the situation is better. Therefore the only thing we can do is to wait for the official release of 2.4.22.
The driver on the adaptec page is the same as the one in the kernel, so its just a matter of getting a default kernel to load.
cmleungive,
I've seen this problem also with different adaptecs and 2.4.20, are you certain its the exact same card? Also, do you know if 2.4.21 works because Slackware has a precompiled series of those (to get around the ptrace bug).
Well, I boot from red hat 8, in the advice (not found any hd) I choose add device scsi ok. So I put de driver from adptecīs page, press F2 OK again, and, there is! adaptec Aic79xx U320 SCSI
Then I proceed with the instalation
Thanks for the help.
Today the kernel 2.6 has the module for it.....
