How to check disk health

Hi All,

On our RHEL 5 64 bit server we have installed Oracle EBS. From some days we are unable to connect from the app to the db. I suspect there is some issue with the disks because only on this machine (it is a desktop class machine) I am unable to copy files by winscp.

How can I verify that the disks are ok?

Regards,
Vinod

you can try to check the logs in /var/log, and probably there is a tool smartctl to check that device.

Vinod,

You can install smartmontools and then use smartctl:

Is smartd running?

Alternatively, download the diagnosis tool from the disk manufacturer and use that to check the disks.
