how I fixed a common monitor problem

People with flatscreen displays and NVIDIA GF2 MX400 chips on their graphics card may experience a slight shift in the on-screen image to the right, if they are using the Redhat default drivers.

At first I thought this was because the graphics card was putting out a bad freqency, or something I played with my on-screen menu as much as I could to get the black bar on the left hand side of the screen to go away, but the picture was still shifted off the screen by about 10 pixels to the right.

I updated my NVIDIA drivers to the ones provided by NVIDIA on their site, and that solved the problem!

Just thought I should share this with everyone since I can imagine that other videocard/monitor combinations might be similarly affected.

just for reference, my video card is an ABIT Siluro GF2 MX400, and my monitor is a MEDION MD9383AA. 15".

The default drivers for Nvidia's cards are less complicated than those from NVidia. And NVidia knows more about their cards than others...
