How do you update firmware on peripherals?

Hi;

I use a Linksys BEFSR41 Etherfast® Cable/DSL Router with a 4 Port Switch connected to a cable modem and connected to a linksys VOIP adapter. The VOIP adapter is connected to a phone.

I am on a PC using Ubuntu 8.04 Linux.

I had some probelms recently with my VOIP service and it maybe the case that I have to update the firmware on the router above. The only way to do that according the company web site is with software for windows or the mac.

What do all of you do in that situation?

How do you update your firmware?

Just curious

I have one of those, and I believe you can update it from a browser, can't you? In fact, can't you tell it to look for new firmware itself? I'd have to pull out the manual, as it's all put away since I got U-Verse.

I've always updates router firmware via a web browser, of course that wasn't a Linksys..

Heres a couple options.

LOL! I don't know, that is why I am asking you guys. I didn't see anything on their site, but that doesn't mean "no".

You might give it a shot. Open a browser, and for the address, type in the IP of your router. Chances are, it has a web-based interface with lots of options for configuration. One of those options is likely to be a firmware update. And while you're there, change your password if you haven't already. If it's still the default password, I and about 50 million other people know what it is....
