how do I tell if I have dual processors?


This looks and smells like a stupid question!

From login, how can you tell how many physical processors a server has? I looked at /proc/cpuinfo, and it looks like the machine has two procs, but could that be the result of that "hyperthreading" business or something? Is there a more definitive test I can do to tell if it physically has two procs?

(in advance: No, I can't just open the box, it's remote, wise guys!! )

Found it. Darn I don't have dual procs. I was hoping my web host screwed up and gave me a dual proc machine instead. Here is the answer:
