How do i skip agp ?

Hy everyone,

i have a compaq deskpro P3/650MHz SFF (small form factor) with ATI rage pro 4/8 MB onboard (no agp expansion slot) witch caused me a lot of problems. First of all acceleration wasn't working at all in Linux (rh9, knoppix, mandrake, ....) nor Win (xp/98) but the main problem is that i now installed Slackware10 (instead of merely 1 year old rh9) and it freezes at agp detection (usualy freeze in w98 too at agp with most of the drivers i tried). Same behavior were in knoppix but there i gave him an 'noagp' parameter and it worked. I give the same parameter in lilo but it doesn't care about this.

If anybody know something about this issue maybe can help to enable HW acceleration (i have the computer from more than 1 year and i haven't seen no kind of it). Problem seems to begun from gart (mainboard has 440BX).

Hi
I understand you've been able to install slackware, if so comment out your /etc/rc.d/rc.modules at the occourence of agpgart.
In other words open such file as root, and edit
/sbin/modprobe agpgart
to
#/sbin/modprobe agpgart.
This avoid the module to be loaded at boot.
Ciao

Sometimes the simplest things are the most efiicient.

I've just managed to mess up all the setings in BIOS and i gave him a bios reset. I'm writing now from Slackware witch is running just fine. Problem seems to come from "PCI bus mastering" (now disabled). I do not know if hw acceleration works but thanks.

Only one question: how do i make login manager to start automaticaly ? (not the right olace for this question i know)
