How do I remove latest nvidia driver? - Suse 8.2
 

Hi,

Does anybody know how to remove the Nvidia drivers (obtained from the nvidia website) and go back to using the driver supplied by Suse?

There are instructions for that in the file README - Text Version on Nvidia's site at the page where you got the driver to download.

"nvidia-installer --uninstall" does the job.

I found that fonts were less clear using the nvidia driver. As I rarely have a use for 3d acceleration I decided to go back to the original Suse driver. Strangely this was not a problem with Gnome apps, just KDE things like konqueror.

It seems that "all drivers are not created the same." I recently gave my ATI card to someone when I built them a new comp, and got a Nvidia card - since Nvidia builds drivers for Linux. However, the Nvidia card under Windoze has that same font problem. I've tried 3 sets of their drivers, and they all are bad. Under Linux the Nvidia card doesn't display as well as the ATI card did, though the new Nvidia card is twice the card that the ATI was. Simple for me, I'll not buy another Nvidia card.

If you want to try it, Nvidia has other drivers archived at their site.
