How do I disable a firewire port?

Hello everyone I am having a problem with my soundcard (intel I8x0)on a toshiba 5205-s705 laptop runing suse 9.0 kernel 2.4.21. Well I have noticed that My firewire and soundcard is on irq 10. I never use my firewire port in linux. Is there a way to disable it? I was thinking that may be the cause of my soundcard problem.
