Unhappy how do i change the resolution on my geforce fx?

i have a geforce fx 5700 ultra with the 5328 drivers, and i have tried to get it working with 1280x1024 and higher resolutions for some time now, but it hasnt worked. ive tried harddrake, ive tried yanc, ive tried adding the resolutions to my config manually, and still nothing happens. i see some messages in my log, but its too long to post here. however, if you want to see it, just ask, and ill put it up. thanks.

You need to edit /etc/X11/XF86Config. near the bottom where it says something like
Code:
    Subsection "Display"
        Depth 8
        Modes "1280x1024" "1024x768" "800x600" "640x480"
        ViewPort 0 0
    EndSubsection
    Subsection "Display"
        Depth 16
        Modes "1280x1024" "1024x768" "800x600" "640x480"
        ViewPort 0 0
    EndSubsection
    Subsection "Display"
        Depth 24
        Modes "1280x1024" "1024x768" "800x600" "640x480"
        ViewPort 0 0
    EndSubsection
EndSection
Put the resolution you want at the front of the "modes" line
