how do i access a linux slave drive

here why i need to do this.

i was using mandrake 6.1 and modified a script file the system boots thru the typical kernel messages but near the end when this network script (ifcfg-eth0) is run the boot up goes into an infinite loop and stays there.

i've got this drive hooked up as a slave to a master running the exact same distro.

i've tried editing the /dev/fstab file and trying the mount /dev/hdb1 command and get no errors.

the question is how do i NAVIGATE to the slave drive partition native ext2 file system to get at that script file.

thanks,

if I understand the question... you say you can mount it with a mount command and get no errors, right? cd into the mount point/directory in question, and do a ls. If the contents look familiar, you're gold. go ahead and look for your file, perhaps with

Code:
find . -name your_file -ls

the bootup kernel messages show both (including the slave) ide drives detected. I then ran the command mount /mnt/hdb1 and it goes without a hitch no errors. fdisk shows both drive infomation. I hopefully edited the /etc/fstab file correctly to add the addition of the slave drive information (only the primary partition not swap). I'll try out the command you suggested though I think i did try something like that and it gave me an error. I'll repost later tonight not at home computer.

many thanks for the help.

Post the results of "fdisk -l" (that's a lowercase "L") as well as the contents of your fstab file (in the /etc directory). As vtbludgeon indicated, all that you should need to do is mount the partition - you can add it to fstab to automatically do it if that would be preferable -- J.W.

Thanks to both.

All is well it worked out nicely. The slave drive had to be included in the fstab file. I just had to follow some documentation I ran across on the net and it now works.

Cheers
