How can I monitor my DSL connection speed?
Is there a tool or an easy method to keep tabs on your DSL connection speed? For example, if I'm downloading a file, the download manager window will display my connection speed next to the progress bar, but is there a way to view the current data transfer rate whenever I want? I often listen to online radio, and I'm just curious as to how much bandwidth this consumes. If it matters, my connection is generally just fine (I'm running my DSL line into a 2-port router which both of my boxen are connected to) and it's not like I have major complaints about it. I simply am interested in observing how fast/slow my connection is. Thanks for any feedback -- J.W.

KSim is pretty good if you use KDE. You can set it up to monitor your local network, DSL, etc.

Thanks - both of these work, I'll give each of them a try and decide later which I like best. -- J.W.
