how can i install ati in fedora core 3?

hi all
first i want to tell that i use fedora 3 and not 4 or 5 because i use maya 7 (3d program) .
i try to install ati in fedora 3 and still i see mesa mesa mesa...
when i install (in init 3) fglrx_6_8_0-8.24.8-1.i386.rpm its write
that it conflict with xorg-x11-Mesa-libGL-6.8.1-12
so i uninstall it by writing
rpm -e -nodeps xorg-x11-Mesa-libGL-6.8.1-12
and after that i install fglrx_6_8_0-8.24.8-1.i386.rpm by writing
rpm -ivh fglrx_6_8_0-8.24.8-1.i386.rpm
and i go to /etc/X11/xorg.conf and i add
Load "GLcore"
Load "glx"
Load "dri"
and still not working!!!

after that i try to install the automatic installtion (yeee right)
and still i see mesa mesa mesa.
why ati dont writing the true that its not automatic at all?
any ideas how to install this drivers?

don't rip out rpm's with --nodeps unless you know you need to. that can cause all sorts of nasty problems.

you've not even told Xorg to USE the driver.... in the driver section in xorg.conf you would change whatever driver is already there, presumably "radeon" to "fglrx"
