Unhappy How can I Instal Modem and VGA on SuSE 10x?

Hi ,

I want to setup my hardwares on SuSE Linux 10.0 , but it couldn't probe my Graphic card and My modem , how ever both of them had driver for SuSE Linux 9.0, but the
drivers couldn't run my VGA and my Modem .

You can see that there is many drivers for Motorola SM56 modem and nVidia Geforce4 MX 440 on the net but there isn't anything special for SuSE 10x and for any other distributions.

I thought that the problem was SuSE becouse some of my friends tell me that SuSE is the worst in hardware probing but I checked every things in Fedora 4 , SuSE 9.3 and Knoppix 4 but nothing gone ahead!

I think the problem is the version of Linux Kernel.

Can you tell me what is the problem?

Kindest Regards.

As far as modem is configured you can try the driver for suse 9.0 or recompile from source code.

For nvidia graphics card, downoload the latest nvidia drivers from the link below
http://www.nvidia.com/object/linux_d..._1.0-8178.html

It comes in the form of a run file, which you simply run from a command terminal and answer the simple questions when prompted. When done, installer will compile a new driver for you and modify the xorg.conf file. For nvidia graphics cards nvidia's driver is the best option.

First thing - search and locate source code.
Next - extract or install the source code depending on whether it is a tar.gz (or tar.bz2) or an rpm respectively. Read the README and INSTALL files which, will you'd certainly find in the installed/extracted source code directory and which, will guide you to compile the driver.
