How best to take a working configuration from a live cd and use it for a build?

Hi all,

Having had some trouble lately with a mobo, drive and video configuration IO have found a live cd - systemrescuecd - that correctly detects and configures my devices and I want to take those necessary components from the live cd working state and build them into a new system on one of the local disks.

I have done more than my fair share of gentoo builds and rolled kernels but I would be interested to hear of the best ways to capture those settings and apply them to a fresh build.

I have taken copies of

/etc/X11/xorg.conf.in
/var/log/messages
dmesg
lspci
lsmod
kernel .config

what else would I need to look for to ensure that I get most of the devices working from a fresh build?

TIA
Will

I would suggest you first remaster and test your settings
http://www.sysresccd.org/Sysresccd-m...SystemRescueCd

then go to the forum and ask about hd install.
