Hot Swappable USB devices
Hey everyone,
Linux newbie (sorry). Wondering if USB deviced are hot-swappable like the are in XP. Currently running FC 2 w/ kernel 2.6.8.1. Current belief is that I must boot with the other device plugged in. Basically, motherboard only has two USB ports, one is used for the mouse, and the other I swap out between the printer and CD burner. In order to burn CD's, do I have to reboot? Thanks in advance, Scott |
Nope, no need to reboot but you need to unmount if any CD is mounted prior to swapping. It isn't necessary in your case but you could purchase a 4 port USB hub.
