Hot Swappable USB devices

Hey everyone,

Linux newbie (sorry). Wondering if USB deviced are hot-swappable like the are in XP. Currently running FC 2 w/ kernel 2.6.8.1.

Current belief is that I must boot with the other device plugged in. Basically, motherboard only has two USB ports, one is used for the mouse, and the other I swap out between the printer and CD burner. In order to burn CD's, do I have to reboot?

Thanks in advance,
Scott

Nope, no need to reboot but you need to unmount if any CD is mounted prior to swapping. It isn't necessary in your case but you could purchase a 4 port USB hub.
