I seem to be stuck with a Hercules 3d prohpet 9800 pro. This would not have been a bad thing, of course, if I could make it work under Linux.
It seems like ATI doesn't like Hercules, becuase the fglrx drivers say,
(EE) fglrx(0): board is third party board
...and halts the X server. There isn't any question that the driver *would* support the card if it could, it detects everything nicely:
(II) fglrx(0): initializing int10
(II) fglrx(0): Primary V_BIOS segment is: 0xc000
(--) fglrx(0): Chipset: "ATI R350 NH (R9800)" (Chipset = 0x4e48)
(--) fglrx(0): (PciSubVendor = 0x1681, PciSubDevice = 0x0002)
(--) fglrx(0): board vendor info: third party grafics adapter - NOT original ATI

and continues initializing modules, until

Has anyone got a
Hercules 9800 running under Linux? Help?
