help with Xwindow 4.0.3

Hi, I´m having problems with the X window 4.0.3 system, it appears that there is something wrong with the configuration of the monitor, I have a 2238 IBM monitor with a SIS: sG86C205 video card with 2mb of memory, when running this program it all appears to go ok, but suddenly the server crashes and displays the following message:

- no primary device found

Fatal Error:
no screens found

Maybe the version of Xwindow does not support my chipset, if it is so what shall I do??
I´ve tried to fix it by running Xconfigurator, XF86 -configure but it also doesn´t works, please help!!!
Thanks!

A quick trip to http://xfree86.org/4.0.3/Status30.html#30 revealed your video card is not supported by 4.0.3 but it is supported by 3.3.6

So all you basicly have to do is downgrade to 3.3.6

Thanks a lot for the help, I was just wondering if there is a patch or something to fix this, or how do I downgrade to version 3.3.6, and also if I have also to download GNOME in order for xwindow to work??
