OK I have an alcatel usb speedtouch 330 modem that I have been trying for ages to try to get to work in SUSE linux 9.1 personal. I have followed all the steps on the how to at:

.xs4all.nl/~pschram/english.html

However the modem fails to work. I get the following error:

Modem hangup

Can anyone help me over this hurdle.

IIRC, USB modems generally don't work in Linux. A check of the SuSE hardware database will tell you if that modem is supported.
