help with troubleshooting printers over TCP/IP

Kudos to anyone who can help with this one. I have a networked multifunction laser printer, a Konica Minolta 161f. I am having trouble printing in all applications, sometimes the job will print other times it won't. It does seem to work well with small jobs around one or two pages. And I have been able to print a couple of jobs with twenty or so pages, but thats it. What tools would I use to diagnose what the printer is doing, I can log in using Firefox and check the status of the job, but this gives me no control over the job itself. It does tell me that the job is in some type of wait status, where it is expecting more pages. It says it has one page, but not the rest. Is there a way to communicate with the printer, and command some type of bash script file or LPR command, I think I can telnet into it also. Any help on this is much appreciated. Thanks

How are you administering your printer? Are you using the CUPS web interface (http://<hostname or ip>:631 to check on the status of your print(er)?

I'm using a basic HP CUPS print driver, Minolta doesn't offer any Unix drivers for their machines. As far as I know Open Office is using a standard LPR command script, would there be a way to find out what that is. I have tried looking up how the LPR command formats pages, but that is way over my head. I'll give the CUPS web interface a try, I haven't heard of that. This was something I wanted to try and get up and running for the past week, however my boss has already told me not to spend too much more time on it. I'll probably spend a couple of hours on it tomorrow, and if I can't figure out why the machine is freezing up, I'll just put it back. I would like to take it home and play with it, but there's no way that's going to happen. Thanks again.
