I'm trying to install the ALSA drivers to get my DSP24V sound card to work in Redhat 8. I follow all the ./configure, make, make install instructions but when I type 'modprobe snd-ice1712' (ice1712 is the chipset) it says this......

modprobe snd-ice1712
/lib/modules/2.4.20-8/kernel/sound/acore/snd.o: unresolved symbol schedule_work

/lib/modules/2.4.20-8/kernel/sound/acore/snd.o: insmod /lib/modules/2.4.20-8/kernel/sound/acore/snd.o failed

/lib/modules/2.4.20-8/kernel/sound/acore/snd.o: insmod snd-ice1712 failed

I update the modules.conf with the correct text but sound card doesn't work.
These are the exact procedures i followed in Redhat 8 and it worked fine!
Any help would be much appreciated.

Howdy, i too had this problem, and it seems there is a problem with the kernel source that comes with a fresh redhat install..

I solved this by going to :

http://shrike.freshrpms.net

And downloading the pre-built rpm files. !!!

Thanks for the quick response......On the freshrpms site you said about do I only have to get the ALSA rpm's or is there a problem with any others?
