help with laptop....please

I have a compaq 715us laptop and I have checked linux-on-laptops and have tried to do what that guy does but my laptop overheats while trying to do it, does anyone know of a way to get around this, he says I am supposed to patch my kernel and recompile, but alas when I recompile it overheats and shuts off, or I can an error saying cannot make bzImage? Can someone help me please?

Maybe have someone compile a kernel for you? Seems you're not alone reporting the 715 overheats. One even suggests taking out the battery and reinserting it. Hmm. Don't think Linux will like that...

where have you seen that at? I would like to read other peoples opinions and what they have tried...
