Help with front panel mic input?
hi,
all the sound features on this computer worked straight out of the box, EXCEPT the front mic input jack. distro is Suse 9.2. the case is an Antec Performance One P160 - the silver one with the odd swiveling front panel jacks. it has a front audio in and audio out. the motherboard is a gigabyte GA-K8VT890. the onboard soundcard is a VIA 8237. as far as i can see, everything is conncted properly. here's what happens:
* rear sound output:OK
* rear line input: OK
* rear mic input: OK
* front sound output: OK
* front mic input: NO
i've tried a variety of switches and options in the mixer applets (Input Select, Mic Select, Duplicate Front, etc in KMix and AlsaMixerGUI), but no input. this is true for just straight playthrough and for recording in Audacity.
is there a module option or anything that needs to be set to enable the front mic input?
i have a soundblaster live card, should i try that instead?
thanks,
