I just installed Red Hat 8.0 after finally getting fed up with windows crashing every time I tried to get some work done. Everything went smooth with the exception that Red Hat does not see my Sony CRX100E/X USB supressa cdr/w. I have a Microsoft optical mouse which is USB and Red Hat has no problems with that what so ever.
I am really new to linux, and really do not want to have to use windows anymore. I just need a little push to get the drive working as My system will not take an internal drive.
Search here for USB CD-R/RW, USB burner, etc. I've seen it answered a couple of times, I don't have my bookmarks in neat order I had the link to how-to for USB CD-R/RW, but search here the answer is up there.
