HELP, Sony FX340 redhat8.0, freeze when logout.

I recently installed a redhat linux on my sony vaio fx340 notebook, everything is ok, just when logout from kde, gnome or windowmaker, it freeze there, black screen with NUM lock and scroll lock twinkling. There is a same problem if I use redhat 7.2 or 7.3

I have the same problem with a Sony Vaio PCG-R505TSK running Redhat 8.

Interestingly, i had previously installed RH 7.1 and then upgraded to 8; that worked fine. Eventually i decided to completely rebuild the machine however, and doing a clean install of RH 8 i now have this logout crash with the blinking capslock and numlock.

On a lark, i reinstalled from scratch and opted for Gnome instead of KDE, and the problem went away. I didn't carefully record the different packages between the two installs, so the i don't know specifically what fixed/caused the problem, but i can log out of my computer now so i'm happy.

My system often hangs on logout.
I can see the desktop, I can use the mouse but clicking doesn't lead anywhere. The keyboard is blocked too so I can not issue shell commands.
Otherwise all is fine.
I'd be glad to solve the problem of logout.
