Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

Help reconfiguring mouse

I'm using Slackware 10.2 at the moment, and just got a new standard USB optical wheel mouse. I've been Googling for some time now, yielding no results to my question: How do I reconfigure Slackware so I can use my mouse?

Sorry if this question is a bit noobish, I am a noob to Linux, and I installed Slackware in hopes of being forced to learn a lot from it.

Thanks in advance.

The mouse setup is in /etc/X11/xorg.conf. Post your mouse section and what exactly the problem is. I am guessing you mean the mouse does not work at all?
Also is it in USB or PS/2 connector?

Open the file /etc/X11/xorg.conf in an editor. There will be a section on the mouse. If unsure post the whole file contents.
