Help Needed with mounting external HDD

i have an external 120GB Hdd. i have mandriva 2007 installed. when i am plugging it in, it does not detect at all. how do i mount it? its in NTFS format.

How are you inferring that Mandriva isn't detecting it? Because it's not mounted? Post the output of dmesg after you plug the device in (not the entire thing, just the end bit).

i have 2 external HDD, one is that 120GB and other is a 30GB hdd. both are ntfs filesystems and both have 2 partitions. both even get detected on windows. but when i plug the 30GB one it detects and i dont even need to mount it manually. the other 120GB is detected when i scan for all hardware but i cannot mount it coz it says some error like:

wrong fstype, bad superblock and something.

Please post the output of running the following command as root after plugging in the drive

grep sd /var/log/messages
