Help needed - Intex rtc8139d ehternet card (Silan Tech) driver for kernel 2.6.x

Hello friends,
I just bought an Intex ethernet card. The model as written on the chip is rtc8139d (not rtl8139d).
The problem is the drivers are available for kernel 2.4.x and 2.5.x only. I have used it fine under Fedora Core 1.
But, now I have Ubuntu 5.10 (kernel 2.6.12-9-386). So, the card is not working. The drivers for kernel 2.4.x and 2.5.x are provided by Silan Technologies. I have tried googling around for the drivers but no luck.
So, is there a way to get drivers for kernel 2.6.x? Is there are a way to make some changes in the source file for the driver so that it could be compiled for kernel 2.6.x? Any suggestions would be greatly helpfull. Thanks in advance.

I have the same issue. The drivers are for 2.2 and 2.4 kernels. I need it for a 2.6.12 kernel on Gentoo Linux.

Here is the driver for 2.2 and 2.4 provided by the manufacturer. lspci detects the card as a RTL8139, but itīs in fact a Silan SC92031 (itīs a fake cheap chinese card).

Please, could anyone "transalte" it into 2.6 kernel?
Thanks,
Pablo

Hey GUYS .. it works

Hello friends...:D Thanks for the earlier posts, i have found this new updated kernel for Fedora core 6 and it really works.

http://www.howtoforge.com/kernel_compilation_fedora_p2

The above mentioned site also gives a step by step guide to install the kernel :)

Also you can download the patch for this kernel (which was not required by me to make the network card workin)

http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pu...s/Fedora/RPMS/

There was this step which did not work for me.. when i tried to

#make menuconfig

This was used to make the orginial cofig as the default config and starting point to start the installationg

BUT i was getting errs when runnig this command..

So i went straight to make...

It gave a lot of option.. I just kept hitting enter.. till i reached this

Install Network drivers for Silan SC92031 (EXPERIMENTAL) [y]

I pressed y here and the rest i kept hitting enter till it finished ..

then it was three more commands

make all
make modules_install
make install

after this reboot your computer and you will see in your grub boot menu the new kernel listed with your old kernel..

Hope this finding helps :)

May be its quite a long time i have found out this solution :)
