Help me its Urgent

hi,
i'm trying to install Linux 2.1 redhat advance server but when it comes to Partitioning it gives an error "an error occured no valid devices were found on which to create new filesystem"
could it be because of SCSI disks I have Seagate ST336607LW X 3 hard disk drives.

Please Advise.

Regards

Mehdi Hassan

I can't give you too much help with Red Hat but some distros don't have scsi support in their main kernel, read your documentation to see if you need an alternate boot disk for the install or if you can pick an alternative kernel on the cd.

As SylvainP said, there are many bootdisks (or rootdisks) that are made for specific configurations.
Take a look on your CDs in /rootdisk or /bootdisk for a scsi.i flopy image.
This might help you...

Bye!

First make sure that bios is recognizing that you have these hard drives.

That shouldn't be a problem, I recently installed Red Hat 9 on an old Compaq machine with SCSI drives. There were no extra steps I had to take to have them recognized.

So, there is some other problem.

What were the other steps you took up to the partitioning part?

Edit: Also, "Help Me It's Urgent" is a bad title. You should use a more descriptive title, such as "problem partitioning scsi drives, red hat server", or somesuch.

What type of SCSI controller is it?

Does the SCSI controller detect the hard drives?

Did the installer detect the controller?
