Help installing NEW SCSI card on RH9

Hello, all...
I have a RedHat 9.0 box that I upgraded from a RH8.0 box. I currently have an Advansys SCSI card, but am unable to burn CDs (however, I *can* blank CDRWs...so I don't think it's the CDRW drive.) In an effort to fix this problem, I purchased an Adaptec 2940U to replace it.
RedHat recognizes the card and places an entry for it in /etc/modules.conf, however, it does not appear to load the module at boot.
How do I get RedHat to install the module at boot, the way it does with the Advansys?
Note that I am NOT going to have room in my system for BOTH cards on a long-term basis. I have one open slot which is taken up by a slot-fan at this point in time. What I need to do at most, is temporarily mount both cards in the system long enough to get it to boot with the Adaptec module loaded at boot.
I have already tried this the "easy" way (auto-detect,) however, as I said, it recognized the new card, but did not load a module for it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
