Question Help installing a Belkin USB 150 to a Unbuntu box

Trying to install a USB Belkin 150 to my Unbuntu box.
The computer simply does not recognise the USB stick. Beleive I need a driver and/help to install.
I have tried going to Belkin's site for help...not luck.

Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated.

Jay

No need to run those commands in a terminal/konsole.

I took a look at the link suggested but am still lost (found it to technical to follow).
Not to be a pain but where else might I find a slightly easier method to fix the problem or step by step instructions?

1. disable rt2870sta.ko (simply rename the file as rt2870sta.ko.dis in /lib/modules/linux<your kernel>/kernel/drivers/staging/ ) (possibly optional)

2. Use the driver from the Belkin website -see post #35, 36 in the link above (not the 11 step one)
i.e.

Extract driver with mouse to some folder /belkin in home folder

#cd ~/belkin
#sudo make

#sudo make install

reboot

everything should work

Unhappy update

I believe I am making slow progress..no glory yet. The extracted driver comes across as RT2870sta.dat. when I go to terminal serve and try to navigate to it no luck.

what am I doing wrong? I have it saved on my desktop in a folder called Belkin.

Thanks for your help.

Question Driver downloaded

the driver I downloaded for some reason is....RT2870sta.dat

Not sure if I should change it to RT2870sta.(ko) remove the dat or what to do next.
