help!!!! i see nothing on boot (after makin change to lilo)

ok, i wasnt getting any consoles after i installed the nvidia modules.
so i went and edited lilo.conf to read "vga = 0x0317" as per some suggestion someone else had tried. and now, during startup, i see nothing - i dont even know if the systems up or not.

yikes!!!! what can i do?

umm, this is a laptop with the config mentioned in my user info on the left.

thanks!

is there a way to change lilo settings before the kernel boots? like in win32, we can boot to safe mode or something, can i make changes to lilo (like "vga=normal")?
is there some key i can press for options? (yes, im flippin out)

ok, sorted out. i booted into the stock 2.4 kernel that comes with debian, and i could "see" stuff. changed lilo.conf to say "vga=normal", and im back.
so, that would mean that i didnt enable something in the new kernel which is enabled in the stock kernel.
hmm ... anyone know what that might be?
