Help! I have two sound cards

I'm using mandrake 9.1 and I have 2 sound cards... ones bound to the motherboard and one is in the pci card.... I dont hear any sound... how do i disable the pci sound card... or the motherboard sound card... which ever is easier.... thanks. also is there any good books for learning linux code? please reply

Try to go into the mandrake control center adn then go into the hardware tab. Next go into hardware and find the soundcard section and click run config tool

what do i do then? i tried to use the config tool.. but i dont know how to disable it

You don't need to disable one of the sound devices. The sound is probably muted. See here for the fix:
