HELP ! Display Prob.-Fedora-Intel 845

I am stuck up with this very peculiar problem with my Fedora Core 1 installation. I had been successfully using the distro for many days with my PIII I810 Motherboard. Today when I upgraded the system to Celeron 1.7 I845 Mercury Motherboard, everything went on smoothely till I realized (after reinstallation) that the dispaly would start X only in 600x480. I tried using the Display tool in the Setting menu; tried editing the config file by hand; but in vain. Now when I login; though the Display settings show 1078x ... the resolution that I had selected in the settings menu earlier... the Screen Resolution in the Preferences is still tied to 600x... and the display sucks. What should I do... Please help
