Yes dhcp has been enabled.
I have found a work around for the situation....
i chose not to start eth0 service at bootup, instead, configured net from mandrake control panel,.. now it seems to be working.
seems that my realtek 8139 NIC is the problem...
what should i do ?
thanks

Please try to make better and more helpful thread titles in the future, "Help a Newbie...." doesn't describe your problem. This helps others when browsing or searching to find your thread or know what is covering. Thanks.

I'm installing Redhat 9, with the same motherboard and it failed to detect the NIC.
I forget the exact syntax, but verify that eth0 is active (using ifconfig or some gui tool), I suspect you have the same problem I do and that the device will not be active.
