Hello. I am getting 'e1000 unknown parameter 'irq' and my adapter wont come up.

RHEL5 and I am still new at this. I hope I am asking the right question in saying, how to I appropraitely assign an IRQ to this device? or is there another way to get the computer to recognize my ethernet card? When I do an lsmod, e1000e and e100 shows up...not e1000 tho. Thanks.

I found the answer and adding it here in case someone else can use it..in /etc/modprobe. Apparently irq 14 was being assigned to the nic. I commented that out and rebooted and all is well. Hey, how do I thank myself?

Hi,

You take the right or left arm and slightly bend it towards your back. Then just 'pat' away with the palm of your hand!

Unless you just happen to have someone else in the room and hopefully they will aid you in that endeavor.
