Question Headphone socket(s) not working on Dell Studio 1745 / Lucid Lynx

I have a pair of Creative I-TRIGUE 200 speakers which work perfectly under windows7 but not under Linux Lucid Lynx (nor under 9.10).

I have been searching the forums, and found advice to add the line:

options snd-hda-intel model=dell-m6

to /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base

Elsewhere I saw that more recent versions use alsa-base.conf

I have both alsa-base and alsa-base.conf on my system. The alsa-base file contained the line:

options snd_mpu index=0

I have added "options snd-hda-intel model=dell-m6" to both files without success.

If it is of any help, the Codec is IDT 92HD73C1X5

I have also tried model=dell-92HD73C1X5 again without success

I feel particularly confused re the two files! Which is the effective one?

Has anyone found a fix for this problem?
