HDMI laptop to TV issue

Connected laptop HDMI to TV
Good image of desktop with all regular icons on view.

Pointer works
But will not activate icon on tv screen.

That is the computer functions but the TV remains desktop only.

Move to 'shutdown'on computer and that comes to TV.
What's to do lease?

It sounds to me like you want Desktop Mirroring to be 'on' so that the tv and the computer screen are the same desktop. As it is now, it sounds like your computer is treating the tv as a second desktop, which perhaps is not what you want.

Somewhere in your System Settings > Displays you should see something to make both screens be the same thing. It's hard to tell you exactly where, because it will differ depending on what Desktop Environment you use.

Thank you/for that
Whilst I have been poking around 'displays' and not getting any where, had a closer look at 'fn' keys
They did the trick by toggling a few

All I have do now is to remember what I did.

Look for a symbol that is two squares, one over the other. That is often the "display mirroring" key.
