HDMI issues on boot (non linux specific)
 

Hey all, I have a Radeon HD 4550. I finally got an HD TV that I want to plug my computer into. I have an issue however.

When I turn my computer on, I lose my VGA display (monitor) and nothing appears on my TV. When I plug my VGA cable into my TV, it works however (no HDMI attached)

My computer DID NOT meet the power supply requirements for this video card. It calls for a 300W, and my computer only has a 250W power supply. It probably doesn't help that I have an additional hard drive connect ed and a PCI wireless card. Could this be the issue?

FWIW, I can't see the computer POSTing, but I can hear it.

I am confused.

Did this work correctly with this video card at one time or is it a new device? (less the tv part)

It's been in my computer for like a year and a half or so, operates fine under normal conditions (VGA to a 19" monitor) when I attached my TV via HDMI, I lost everything. I run straight up VGA to my TV, it works.

My thinking would be to connect both and reload the OS and drivers maybe. Might be possible to update drivers with both connected. I assume that some driver issue but I guess it could be anything from power supply to video card. Since it has never been tested we just can't guess.

I'm not even getting past the POST...
