HDD auto detected as LARGE, is it ok?

HDD: Maxtor 40Gb
Motherboard: Gigabyte
Chipset: VIA
Proc: AthlonXP 1800
MEM: 256M
.
Some days ago I realized that my HDD is set in BIOS as auto. And as a result it's detected as LRG e.g. LARGE.

But I think that now all contemporary HDD must be in LBA mode.
Is it okay using 40Gb HDD in LARGE mode?

So what should I do? Should I set it in LBA mode by hand and reinstall OS.
my OSs - SUSE 10.0 and WinXP.
