Good day, I am a Brazilian usuario linux.
I do not know if all they go to understand what I go to write, therefore I am using google to translate my Portuguese for the English.
But it would like to postar that I am inexperienced in the universe linux, and am having the same problem that my colleagues above. Also I have a ASUS P5LD2, but I am using OpenSUSE 10.2 . The sound only leaves in one the boxes of sound, and in the other it leaves a irritating beeper.I have hope of that the somebody most experienced thing in linux can in helping them of some form.

I hug to all

Which kernel version are you using? I had similar problems in mepis (which is ubuntu-dapper based) and got it fixed upgrading my kernel. Not sure this is a solution for you, too, but it may be that your kernel does not fit your pc architecture properly.

Maybe you have a 686 and your kernel is a 386....You can check this with command 'uname -a'

The original post was on intel sound card on ubuntu. I have no experience with opensuse, so I cannot help you and given the thread title you'd better open a new specific thread for your sound problem. I think you there should be an opensuse forum in portuguese but I'm not sure

Hi.
One possibility is add following options in your /etc/modprobe.conf.

options snd-intel-hda index=0 model=3stack

Goog luck.

Talking

Debtor for the aid friends. It did not have no problem with native driver of linux, the problem was in the configuration.I made the following one to decide the problem:

1°to clicar with the button of the right of mouse in kmix (I sing inferior left of the screen) and to select the option To show Window of the Mixer.

2°When to open the window of kmix to select the third border (Alternators) and to light led yellow (Stereo Downmix.

3°to clicar with the button of the right of mouse in kmix and to select the option To occult Window of the Mixer.

From then on the sound left in the 2 boxes of sound, but still it had beep-sound in the box of the left side.

4°To open the Yast - > hardware - > sound - > Editar - In the option model = 3stack (tip of the friend J_W ), the option position_fix=0 and the option single_cmd=0

Soon now the sound functions perfectly. Also already I followed the tutorial one ( http://www.susept.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=778 ), e I obtained to twirl COMPACT DISC of audio, mp3 and DVD.

Thanks a lot to all. Good bye ! (translated for google)

cat /var/log/messages |grep hda gave me after each boot:
hda_codec: Unknown model for ALC262, trying auto-probe from BIOS...

so (from the above list) is modified my /etc/modprobe.conf to include "model=basic" and things are OK now.

[root@IT-0106-03 ~]# cat /etc/modprobe.conf
alias eth0 e1000
alias scsi_hostadapter ata_piix
remove snd-hda-intel { /usr/sbin/alsactl store 0 >/dev/null 2>&1 || : ; }; /sbin/modprobe -r --ignore-remove snd-hda-intel
alias eth1 8139too
options snd cards_limit=8
alias snd-card-0 snd-hda-intel
options snd-hda-intel index=0 model=basic
alias snd-card-7 snd-usb-audio
options snd-usb-audio index=7

Thanks
Michiel.
