Hda errors-how to buckup a parttion ?


Howdy,...
I got some hadware issues (fsck finds every time new errors when i reboot on root parttion).
i wish o buckup my other parttions and then format it.
wel how can i do that excpt cp *?
another thing is how to know if my parttion is ext 3 or ext2 (fstab corrupted and fdisk -l disk gives linux 83).
Yours truly .
