HD1:IDE Suse 10.2 & Windows Xp Pro HD HD2: SATA XP PRO X64 HOW TO MOUNT HD 2

okay here it is

hard drive 1 is an ide 30gb suse 10.2 and xp pro 32bit edition

hard drive 2 is a sata 250gb with the whole thing partitioned in xp pro 64bit edition

i want to be able to transfer data inbetween them

I did NOT install suse with HARD DRIVE 2 connected because i do not want grub loader to mess up me up like it always does

i do not want to reformat none of the hard drives

can anybody help me please? i want to be able to transfer the data without grub loader having to ruin my second hard drive because in the past when i tried to load into windows seperately i get an error because of grub dat is why i did not choose to install linux with hd2 connected

here is a screenshot of system monitor http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l1...Screenshot.png

i believe the 250mib is my hard drive..i do not understand why its mib it should be gib. i know my second hd is connected fine because when using windows on hd1 i can see my 2nd hard drive just fine with 250gbs labeled DRIVE F...BIOS DETECTS IT JUST FINE TOO...I have an ASUS P5PE VM motherboard <dont ever buy this mobo; but for some reason i cant find a Drive F on linux or somehting similar to it...how can i go about being able to see my program files documents etc on my second hard drive from linux and be able to transfer some important files here and to there can someone please help i've tried looking ever where for it

p.s. just in case ur afraid to click the link. what i think is hard drive 2 in linux is a DEVICE called UDEV in directory /DEV with a format type of TMPFS with a total of 251.mib with 251.mib freespace which looks weird because of the amount of free space and total space...there are several programs installed on my second hard drive..please help thank u

firstly, I am sorry if grub or suse mucked up your attempt to use Linux.

1) dual booting is a common question so you can read my signature if you wish.

2) you can choose suse to install in the root of its hard drive and not on the mbr of the first detected drive.

3) your pic suggests you have C partiton on a drive jumpered as a master on controller 2 so what is in controller 1?

is it a optical drive ?

4) Sata drives do not show up as /dev/h structure but as /dev/s and I can not find any in your pic. I suggest you may need to change the way you display info but lets move on.

5) I assume sata is your first detected drive and its mbr has ms bootloader ....ntldr to boot XP?

6) to your question......how to transer data there are 4 main ways

1....use the dd command from a live cd or a hard drive linux system
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...d.php?t=362506

2 use Samba but I have no experience in using it....but there a lots of sites that have tutorials on it

3 use a linux system that has ntfs support (only recently made more stable) to read and write to ms.....but I have no experience on ms going the other way as I do not have xp.

4) use dvd or cd rewriteables

5) trash linux and install a ms virtual maching to run linux or the better solution....hehh heh trash ms and run qemu...vmware...virtualbox etc virtual machines to run ms.
then you do transfers using ssh with scp.

But I assume this is beyond your current threshhold of understanding?
