HD usage

this isn't really a linux question, but is linux related..

due to the low low hd prices, i am considerign getting a relativly small hd for linux, just linux, since i will be using it in the next year or so (thats why i am asking so many questions)

the problem is i dont know if the PSU can handle another hd.

please tell me if i am cable of having another hd installed with this computer:

300W psu,
nvidia 5600 ultra,
2x 120mm fans
1x regular cpu fan,
2 harddrives (maxtor and WD if it matters)
2 optical drives (dvd, cdrw),
floppy.

since the gfx card demands 300 i dont know if adding another drive will strain the power supply.
how much power does a hd consume anyway?

thanks a lot,

Guy

(sorry if this isnt the place to ask this, in which case, does suse detect drives automatically?)

If I were in your shoes (and I have been before) I would call your PSU manufacturer. Also some "300 W" supplies can't really deliver steady 300 W, but only in tiny bursts. That's not what you want if you're near the top of the threashold.
