Hi!
I have an external Hayes modem, which connects via serial port. Any Linux distro I have used has been able to detect it.
If your modem is a USB, Linux may not be able to detect it. Have you tried to configure it in Control Panel after installation?
If so, what (error) messages did you receive?
hayes are actually one of the few companies who are very helpful when it comes to supporting Linux and giving support. It might be a good idea to find out who the local reps are for your location and give them a call.
Please post the model number, that way it will be easier to sort out if Linux supports your modem and to try and find a solution for you.
Thank you for your reply. The problem is not solved. Well, actually, it 's my own problem , as I am a newbie in Linux, I don't know what is the "equivalent of com1 or com2" in linux, but now it's solved !

Well, thanks, I'm just one more of those who likes to spread little penguins all over the world!
Once you get a better understanding of Linux, it will get easier. Make sure you read the man pages when you get stuck and avoid trying to do things the Micro$oft way on Linux - they just aren't the same!
