Ok this is a totally different stiuation than the other one i was able to get linux ubuntu running as a live cd on my computer but there seems to be a problem whenever i want to install it. It will want to know how to partition the hard disk but i cant get to it. FOr example like it will say how would you like to partition the disk but it wwont say anything it would just be a loading screen. My hard drive is a Western digital 160gb i see you can manually do it on Gparted but what should i do i am in a terrible panic NO it would not even come up with the partitioning it will come up as how would you like to partition your space and the rest would be a blank screen. Do you think it can be my hard drive but i dont think so

You need to provide more details. What live cd are you trying to install?

The installer will give you choices---eg manual partitioning, use existing partitions, or simply use the whole disk with a default setup.

Are you setting up dual-boot--or only installing Linux?

Provide specific details on where you are getting stuck....what step of the install process, etc.
