Having a problem connecting my mixer to linux

Hi,

I want to connect all of my audio equipments to my computer and from there to my stereo so that I can record MP3s while I am mixing. I am new to linux. So far, my audio player sounds fine through my audio player. Now, my mixer... well, when I connect it, I can't hear anything neither from the stereo or through the computer speakers. I am not a linux wiz. I know it has something to do with the runmixer. Right now both line and line1 are in lock. I played around with a whole bunch of combinations, no luck. Any ideas??

Thanks

PS: Oh... I have redhat 9 and my soundcard is VIA AC'97 Enhanced Audio controller (WDM). I had some issues with redhad 8 because I believe my soundcard drivers were not installed (at least that is what a friend told me).
